Stock gearing drz400s

On the other hand, I see no point in gearing it so tall that you're basically hoping to have the bike idling down the freeway at 75mph and having big gaps from gear to gear. When you're sport riding, that can be annoying, too. What I have used is a stock 15-tooth up front and 38-tooth and a 39-tooth rear sprockets. 14/42 is about equivalent to 15/45. It's shorter than stock S gearing, and many people ride the S on stock gears in technical terrain just fine. With something like an auto-clutch, a ratio in this range would be a non-issue for crawling along in any terrain. Im thinking about buying a drz 400 and I want to be able to go on fire roads and single tracks comfortably while still being able to get on the freeway and go 65-75 without worrying about the engine. Does anyone have a gear ratio that can do this?

The E has 14/47 stock (I had two E's and an S model) and your S probably has 15/44. One in the front is like three in the rear, so that is a huge difference in gearing. I ran 14/47 on my S and could still go way too fast (80+) and first was still pretty tall in the dirt. Still, it is a good compromise, cheap and easy. One or two on the rear is
